加拿大CBC電視臺(tái)解說(shuō)嘉賓麥克唐納，昨天在解說(shuō)奧運(yùn)比賽時(shí)忘記關(guān)麥，辱罵中國(guó)14歲游泳小將艾衍含，事件經(jīng)曝光后引發(fā)中外網(wǎng)友抨擊。

不過(guò)，由于語(yǔ)言障礙，當(dāng)中出了一點(diǎn)小波折。

麥克唐納的原話是這樣的：

“The little 14 year-old from China dropped the ball, baby. Too excited, went out like stink, died like a pig. ”

目前流傳最廣的翻譯版本是這樣的：

drop the ball是一個(gè)固定搭配，指“表現(xiàn)很差”，這個(gè)大家沒(méi)什么爭(zhēng)議。

go/swim like stink，此處是一個(gè)俚語(yǔ)，意思是“跑得/游得賊快”。說(shuō)實(shí)話我一開(kāi)始也誤解了，想當(dāng)然以為stink就是惡臭，直到有海外留學(xué)經(jīng)歷的同事提醒，才明白過(guò)來(lái)。

于是呢，今天有個(gè)叫“加中生活圈”的公眾號(hào)（作者署名“小圈君”），自以為抓到了把柄，可以替洋大人洗白了。

這信誓旦旦的口氣，唯一的內(nèi)容支撐也不過(guò)是對(duì)like stink俚語(yǔ)的解釋。

可died like a pig怎么洗呢？

洗不了。因?yàn)橐杂⒄Z(yǔ)為母語(yǔ)的人，也都認(rèn)為這是侮辱性的。

當(dāng)天許多加拿大觀眾發(fā)了推特，表示難以置信聽(tīng)到這樣的解說(shuō)詞（大家在推特搜索died like a pig即可搜到）：

Note that died like a pig has never really had any idiomatic currency (though we do have squealed / died like a stuck pig). To be honest, I always thought like stink = furiously, intensely was a (somewhat dated) British usage, but I can't find any support for that online. There's certainly nothing derogatory about saying your friend's sports car "goes like stink", so I guess all the media furore over MacDonald's usage concerns pig (but the Chinese always used to refer to Westerners as capitalist pig-dogs, as I recall). – FumbleFingers

但今天，他本人也出來(lái)道歉了。

MacDonald apologized on-air Thursday afternoon, saying he didn’t mean for his remark to be construed as a personal attack.

“I would like to take a moment to apologize for a comment that I made last night after the women’s relay,” he said on CBC’s Olympic broadcast. “I was referring to a swimmer’s performance, and not to them as a person. Needless to say, there was no disrespect intended and I’m very sorry.”（“我想借此機(jī)會(huì)，為昨晚的言論道歉。我本意是想評(píng)論運(yùn)動(dòng)員的場(chǎng)上表現(xiàn)，并非針對(duì)個(gè)人。不消說(shuō)，其中并沒(méi)有不尊敬的意思，我非常遺憾。”）

連電視臺(tái)和當(dāng)事人都覺(jué)得自己言論不妥，卻有中國(guó)人為洋大人開(kāi)脫，實(shí)在是百思不得其解。
